ACTIVITIES 2016

Month of April and May was a fruitful time for IDA Attingal. CDE, CDH and our WDC Wing was very active . The second stage of our mega project “Beat the B” was also held during the time.

APRIL 2016

BEAT THE B

Beat the B is a mega project of CDH wing of IDA Attingal. The program is to ensure Hepatitis B vaccination for the staffs and other workers of Dental clinic.
First dose of vaccination was given to the staffs and other workers on 17th Sunday 2016 at Shifa Hospital, Kaniyapuram. We can able to give free vaccination to more than 70 staffs and workers. Two awareness classes was also given to the staffs on the same day first one was about Hepatitis B by Dr Shifi Another one was about sterilization by Dr Meera.
Second booster dose was given on 15th Sunday 2016 at Shifa Hospital Kaniyapuram.

CDE

Second branch CDE (15th May 2016)

The second branch CDE program was held at Malabar Hall, Techno park, Trivandrum on 15th May 2016 by the faculties Dr Sudeep S, Dr Dinesh N and Dr Sherin A Khalam.The topic was The Myth and Reality of Dental Implantology. The program was a 6 hr program includes lecture and Hands on implant placement in Goat jaw. KDC awarded 6 credit points for the program. 60 participants attended the program.

WDC

ONE DAY PICNIC (May 1)

WDC arranged one day picnic exclusively for ladies and kids to Thenmala eco-tourism, kollam district. The tour started from kazhakootam at 6 am and reached back by 7 pm.

MOTHER’S DAY (May 8)

WDC Attingal observed mother’s day on may 8. On the occasion WDC arranged an awareness camp and oral screening done for the inmates of Al Himaya orphanage. Dr Rakhee , Dr Deepa ,Dr Meera and Dr Mintu conducted the program.

ADOPTION OF ORPHANAGE

An awareness camp and screening camp was organized in the adopted orphanage of WDC. Members of WDC also provided study materials for the inmates of Al Himaya orphanage.

CDH

NO TOBACCO DAY (May 31)

CDH wing of IDA Attingal observed No Tobacco day on 31st may. Branch contacted two programs on that day.

SIXTH CDH

An awareness class and oral Cancer detection camp was organized at PATMOS INSTITUTE, KILLI, TVM in association with IMA and Solce Mission. Dr Ramesh, Dr Afzal and Dr Alex organized the camp. More than 70 persons attended the camp.

SEVENTH CDH

Oral cancer detection camp was organized for the public at Primary Health Sub centre,Nadakal,Kollam. Dr Hari,Dr Sanu and Dr Binu conducted camp. More than 60 peoples attended the camp . The camp was a joint venture of IDA Attingal and JCI Chathannor.

2nd BRANCH EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING (March 29)

The 2nd branch executive was held Vyabarabhavan; Attingal on March 29 Tuesday at 7pm.President Dr Hari Kumar welcomed the members. The meeting discussed last three months activities of the branch and planed next 3 months programs of the branch.

ORAL HEALTH DAY (FIFTH CDH PROGRAME)

IDA Attingal Observed Oral Health Day on 20th March 2016. On behalf of Oral Health day branch conducted an awareness class on S N College, Chempazhanthi. The awareness class was lead by our senior member Dr Abhilash and CDH Convener Dr Afzal.

IDL 16

IDA Attingal participated Sevens Football League (Inter branch one day football) on 13th march 2016 at VFA Football Stadium, Vallanchery, Malappuram.12 member branch football team was lead by Dr Arun B S as captain.

FORTH CDH CAMP

Forth CDH Camp was conducted on Pullimat Bhagavathy temple, Pullimat, TVM on 6th March 2016. The camp was organized along with the community department of PMS Dental College. More than 100 patients were examined and CDH Convener Dr Afzal Lead the camp.

FAMILY GETTOGTHER(6/3/2016)

IDA Attingal celebrated International Dentist day as a family get-together program Hon Mayor of TVM Adv.V.K. Prasanth was the Chief Guest. On this occasion branch honored newly elected KDC president Dr Anish P and other KDC members of our branch Dr Biju A Nair and Dr Prakash .Various entertainment programs of our branch members was another attraction of the day and the program was well appreciated by the family members of our branch.

SECOND CDE (6/3/2016)

Second CDE of IDA Attigal was a talk by Dr Rakesh S.R on the topic Infection Management Environment Plan (IMEP) the talk includes various aspect of waste management, Immunization of Dentist as well as the staffs and various Govt rules for a Dental Practitioner. The CDE was a one hour program and 80 members attended the CDE.

BEAT THE ‘B’

THIRD CDH PROGRAM -DENTIST DAY CELEBRATION (6/03/2016)

CDH wing of IDA Attingal observed International Dentist Day on 6th March 2016 at Techno Park Club, Trivandrum. Hon Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Adv.V .K.Prasanth was the Chief Guest. On this occasion Hon Mayor inaugurated a noble project of CDH wing ‘Beat the B’.

First Interbranch CDE (21st February 2016)

The First interbranch CDE program was held at Park Centre, Trivandrum on 21st February 2016 by the faculty Dr Krishnaraj Ganeshnarayan MDS, Ph.D (USA). The topic was Safety and Infection Control in Modern day Dental Practice-A Paradigm Shift. The lecture was on Infection control and Sterilization protocols in modern dental practice with live demonstration of autoclaves. The lecture also covered the importance of radiation safety in dental practice. The lecture was well appreciated by the members and was very useful to upgrade the modern day practice for practitioners. The CDE was approved by KDC for 6 credit points (No.D.408/16/DC). IDA members from Attingal, Trivandrum, Kollam and Kottarakara attended the CDE. 129 members attended the CDE.

PRESIDENT & SECRETARY SEMINAR

President Dr Hari Kumar and Secretary Dr Alex Philip and treasurer Dr Asok Gopan attended Preside 2016 seminar held at Trivandrum on 6th February 2016.

Second CDH 2016 (4/02/2016): WORLD CANCER DAY PROGRAM OF IDA ATTINGAL BRANCH 2016

IDA Attingal branch observed World Cancer day on 4th February 2016. Branch conducted an awareness class and an oral screening camp on Veli St. Thomas Hall, Veli at 9.00am to 1.00pm. Camp was organized in association with IMA, Manorama Channel and Solace Mission Foundation.

The camp was inaugurated by the famous film actor Kollam Thulasi. IMA Trivandrum president Dr R C Sreekumar and IMA secretary Dr shafi represented IMA. IDA Attingal branch President Dr Hari Kumar and branch Secretary Dr Alex Philip and Dr Abhilash G S lead the oral screening camp. Awareness class was conducted by Dr Sreejith. More than 150 patients were examined on the camp. Suspected case of oral cancer was examined by the oral medicine panel of IDA Attingal lead by Dr Ramesh MDS. Dr Rahul R Pillai MDS and Dr Nithin MDS. Dr Sanu , Dr Athul ,Dr Anil, Dr Rudy and Dr Jimil attended the camp . The camp was well appreciated by the public. Manorama Vision channel gave a wide media coverage.

FIRST CDH 2016(23/01/2016 & 24/01/2016)

IDA Attingal had organized a two days dental camp for the Arippa Tribal Community at Arippa on 23/01/2016 & 24/01/2016). The camp was conducted in association with Dept of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, PMS Dental Collage. A total of 75 tribal people were examined and 23 potential cases of Oral Cancer were identified.

1st BRANCH EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING ( Jan 19)

The 1st branch executive was held at PWD Rest House; Attingal on January 19 Tuesday at 7pm.President Dr Hari Kumar welcomed the members and expressed his gratitude for electing him as the new president. He also thanked all members for conducting the installation meeting in such a grand manner. Later the meeting discussed about the proposed year plan 2016. The meeting decided to conduct a CDE program on 21st February on the topic sterilization and a CDH program in association with IMA on World Cancer day.

INSTALLATION CEREMONY & FAMILYGETTOGETHER 2016

The installation ceremony and Family Get together of IDA Attingal was held at IMA Headquarters, Trivandrum on December 27th Sunday at 5PM. On this auspicious occasion Dr Hari Kumar R installed as the 16th President of IDA Attingal by the outgoing president Dr Arun Roy. Chief Guest of the meeting was Mrs. Kala N L (Registrar TCMC & KDC). KDC Vice president Dr Anish.P welcomed the gathering. On her inaugural address KDC Registrar congratulated the IDA Attingal for conducting KDC accredited CDEs in good manner and she urged the need of conducting the CDEs on the topic on code of ethics. On his acceptance speech newly installed president Dr Hari Kumar thanked the members for electing him as the president. After that the president installed the new office bearers of IDA Attingal 2016. Dr Samuel K Ninan (Past President IDA Kerala state) was the guest of honor. He welcomed the new members to IDA and inducted new members to IDA. Vote of thanks was delivered by the Secretary Dr Alex Philip. The meeting was followed by gala banquet and entertainment programs.200 members and their family attended the function.

WDC GENERAL BODY(6/3/2016)

First General body meeting Of WDC Attingal was held at Techno Park Club on 6th march 2016. WDC Chairperson presided the meeting and year plan of WDC 2016 was discussed on the meeting. The meeting decided to conduct a trip to thenmala on 1st may .12 members attended the meeting.

INERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

WDC wing of IDA Attingal celebrated International Women’s Day along with the Dentist Day celebration. on Mayor Of Thiruvananthapuram Dr V K Prasanth was the chief guest and Dr Anish P (KDC President )was guest of honor.WDC Chairperson Dr Rakhee Rakesh briefed various project of WDC Attingal.

ADOPTION OF ORPHANAGE BY WDC

WDC wing of IDA Attingal adopted Al Himaya Charitable Society, Manacaud, TVM .Al Himaya is a charitable society run by only lady members. There are 20 inmates and WDC offered free dental treatment for the inmates. On International Women’s day WDC distributed kits containing dress materials and other toiletries. KDC president Dr Aneesh P Inaugurated the function.

ANNUAL REPORT OF IDA ATTINGAL 2016

The year 2015 was a fruitful year for IDA Attingal under the able leadership of our president Dr Arun Roy. All the conveners were active and conducted different types of programs throughout the year. This year we hosted a State CDE Program and it was a grand success.

MEMBERSHIP STRENGTH

Last year we had 222 members (187 renewals 33 new members and 2 life members). This year our membership strength is 241 members (194 renewals 45 new members and 2 life members).

AGM 2014

The annual General Body meeting of IDA Attingal was held on 13th December 2014 at Lions Club hall Attingal by 7.00 pm. The meeting was presided by the branch president Dr Arun S. The AGM passed the minutes of AGM 2013. Annual report and accounts presented in the meeting and passed by the meeting. The meeting appointed Dr Arun Roy as the new president and Dr Alex Philip as the secretary. The 15th installation ceremony was held at IMA Headquarters, Trivandrum on January 11th Sunday 5pm.Chiefguest of the meeting was Dr K.C.Thomas IDA State President -Elect. President Dr.Arun.S installed Dr Arun Roy as new president in the presence of Dr K.C.Thomas. KDC Vice president Dr Anish.P felicitated the gathering. After this the whole office bearers were installed by President Dr Arun Roy. Vote of thanks was delivered by newly elected Secretary Dr Alex Philip. The meeting was followed by gala banquet and entertainment programmes.200 members and family members attended.

BRANCH EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETINGS

This year six executive meeting was held. All the meetings were presided by the president Dr Arun Roy and well attended by the ex-members. All the meetings were arranged every two months to plan the different programs of the coming months. This made easy to arrange all programs successfully.

GENERAL BODY MEETINGS

This year branch conducted two General Body Meeting apart from AGM and Installation Ceremony. First general body meeting of the branch was held at Halais Conference hall, Kazhakuttam on 26th march Sunday at 7 pm. The meeting discussed about the various activities of the branch till date. Accounts were presented by Treasurer Dr Ashok Gopan and it was passed. All the conveners presented their reports respectively. The meeting was followed by a talk on PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT by renowned JC Trainer Mr. Sanjeev Sukumaran. The second GB was along the Onam Celebration.

FAMILY GETTOGETHER

This year two family get-toghter was conducted by the branch. The first family get-together was along with the Installation Ceremony and the second was along with the Onam Celebration. Onam celebration of the branch was held at Park Rajadhani, Ulloor. Dr Mohammed Sameer P T (President elect IDA Kerala) was the chief guest. On this occasion Chief Guest honored Dr Saji Mathew for dedicated service to dentistry through four generations of a family. Chief gust delivered a speech regarding the various issues facing by the practicing lady dentist. The speech was very well appreciated by the audience. Various cultural programs were presented by WDC wing and were followed by grand onasadhya.

CDE

IDA Attingal branch has conducted three interbranch CDE programs and one state level CDE program in the year 2015. All the CDE programs had good attendance and were well appreciated by the participants. All the four CDE programs conducted in the same venue-Travancore hall, park center, Techno park Trivandrum. The venue also got good appreciation due to its international standards

All the four CDE program got six CDE credit points each approved by Kerala dental council. IDA attingal branch is looking forward to conduct several such kinds of CDE programs in future to update the knowledge of clinical practitioners to improve their skills.

CDH

CDH wing of IDA Attingal conducted 4 dental screening camps & awareness classes in various localities of attingal. One of our well appreciated camps was Oral Cancer detection camp at Mariyanadu Mary Matha Church on 26th April for the coastal peoples of that village. The aim of the camp was to give awareness of oral cancer lesions to the community. All the camps was well organized and well attended by the public and it improved the appreciation of IDA activities among public.

CDH wing also observed Doctors day (July 1st), Oral hygiene day (August 1st) World Geriatric Day (1st Oct 2015) and Children’s day (nov14th). Doctors Day was observed by declaring our member Dr Saji Mathew as the best dentist award winner of IDA Attingal. Geriatric day observed by adopting SNEEHATHERAM OLD AGE HOME, Palamkonam, Perumkulam. P O, Alamcode. All inmates were given bed sheets, Dress and toiletries. Children’s day was observed by conducting a painting competition at TWINKLE DAY CARE AND PLAY SCHOOL, KADAKKAL, KOLLAM. A total of 20 children participated in the competition. The program was very well appreciated by the State President.

WDC

This year WDC wing was very active in all branch activities. WDC conducted one WDC general body meeting and a dental screening and awareness camp. WDC members came forward to help the Nepal earthquake victims. They generously contributed for the noble mission and can able to collect clothes food materials etc... Worth 10000/- in short period of time. WDC persons handed over the materials to the relief organization officials. Onam celebration of the branch was another highlighted program where WDC conducted various entertainment programs such as ‘thiruvathira’ ‘pookalam’ group music and other games. On that meeting Dr Mohammed Sameer P T (President elect IDA Kerala) was the chief guest. Chief gust delivered a speech regarding the various issues facing by the practicing lady dentist. The speech was very well appreciated by the audience.

IDA HOPE

Last year we had 118 members but three members didn’t renew the membership and one member transferred his membership. This year 11 new members joined in IDA HOPE and thus our membership strength has increased to 124. This year IDA HOPE introduced HOPE Mediclaim policy to HOPE members. 71 existing members (62 members+9spouses) and 11 new members have joined Hope Medi. Our HOPE MEDI strength is 82.

IDA SOUTH ZONE CRICKET TOURNAMENT

Ida Attingal participated IDA South Zone cricket Tournament held at Central Stadium, Trivandrum on 13th September 2015.

JOURNAL

This year we have published one issue of our official journal ‘Impressions’. The journal was officially released by the State President Elect Dr Mohammed Sameer P T at our Onam Celebration.

ASAP DAC

DAC Course started at govt.college, Attingal by ASAP by higher education department, govt of Kerala in May 2015.Two batches were allotted with an intake of 60 higher secondary students from attingal educational district. One batch of 28 students was allotted to IDA Attingal. Classes started on 23rd may 2015 with Basic Sciences, followed by Infection Control, Emergencies, Dental Ethics & Clinic Management .Dr.Deepak.S.Das, Dr.Premjith.S, Dr.Rahul.R.Pillai, Dr.Meera Murali Dr Abhilash & Dr Susan George are taking classes

CDE REPORT 2015

IDA Attingal branch has conducted three interbranch CDE programs and one state level CDE program in the year 2015. All the CDE programs had good attendance and were well appreciated by the participants. All the four CDE programs conducted in the same venue-Travancore hall, park center, Techno park Trivandrum. The venue also got good appreciation due to its international standards.

1. First Interbranch CDE (8th march 2015)

The First interbranch CDE program was conducted by the legend in prosthodontics Dr. Chandrasekharan Nair MDS on 8th march 2015. The topic was Removable Partial Dentures- Relevance of CPD. The total number of participation was 129. The lecture was very much helpful to update the clinical skills of general practitioners. It was a well attended and well appreciated section by the ‘Prosthoguru’ Dr.Chandrasekharan Nair.

2. Second Interbranch CDE (17th may 2015)

The second interbranch CDE program was conducted by Dr Madhu Hariharan MDS on endodontic. The topic was One Visit Endodontic –to do or not to do- Controversies and Concepts Demystified. The total no of participation was 97 and the lecture was well appreciated. There was a live clinical demonstration using typhodontic model which helped the participants to clear their clinical doubts.

3. Third Interbranch CDE(6th September 2015)

The third interbranch CDE program was on Periodontal Treatment Protocol for the General Dental Practice and Orthodontic Periodontic Interdisciplinary Approach. The faculties were Dr Arun Sadasivan MDS and Dr. Deepu Mohandas MDS. There were 56 participants to attend this wonderful program .The program highlighted various aspects of endodontic orthodontic interdisciplinary approach for the general practioners .The delegates gave very good feedback about this well conducted program.

4. Fourth CDE (STATE LEVEL CDE)22nd November 2015

The fourth CDE program was the state level CDE program on Lasers in Clinical Dentistry. The program was inaugurated by the Kerala state dental council vice president Dr P Anish. IDA Kerala state CDE chairman Dr Deebu J Mathew also attended the function and delivered a speech regarding his views about the importance of CDE program for clinicians. The faculties were Dr Mahesh Narayanan MDS and Dr Simple Varghese MDS. There was a live clinical demonstration in patient’s mouth. The procedure was gingival depigmentation using lasers. There were 106 participants from different IDA branches of Kerala to attend this state level CDE. The program gave rich ideas about various aspects of lasers in clinical dentistry and the program was well attended and appreciated by the delegates.

5. Fifth CDE (Branch level ) 13th December 2015

Branch level CDE program was held at IMA Hall Attingal on 13th December 2015. The topic was Implantolgy for General Dentist and the faculties were Dr Sudeep S and Dr Dinesh.

All the four CDE program got six CDE credit points each approved by Kerala dental council. IDA attingal branch is looking forward to conduct several such kinds of CDE programs in future to update the knowledge of clinical practitioners to improve their skills.

WDC report of IDA Attingal 2015

This year WDC wing was very active in all branch activities. WDC conducted one WDC general body meeting and a dental screening and awareness camp. WDC members came forward to help the Nepal earthquake victims.

1. Installation

Installation of new WDC Chairperson was held along with the Installation Ceremony of IDA Attingal at IMA hall Trivandrum on 11th January 2015. President Dr Arun Roy installed Dr Rakhi Chandran as the WDC Chairperson of IDA Attingal. State President Dr K C Thomas was the chief guest.

2. WDC Meeting

First WDC meeting was held at Halais Conference Hall on 26th march Sunday at 4.00 pm.The branch Chairperson of WDC, Dr Rakhi Chandran presided the meeting and discussed about the future plans

3. Nepal Relief Fund

WDC of IDA Attingal has decided to collect contribution to Nepal Earthquake victims. Members of WDC generously contributed for the noble mission and can able to collect clothes food materials etc... worth 10000/- in short period of time. WDC persons handed over the materials to the relief organization officials.

4. WDC Camp

WDC Attingal conducted a Dental Camp and awareness class in Mancode LPS, Chithara, Kadakal on 28th October for primary school children .225 students was examined. Dr Rakhee, Dr Sereena, Dr Minahal and Dr Shameema lead the camp

5. Onam Celebration

Onam celebration and family get-together of the branch was held at Park Rajadhani, Ulloor on 23rd August, Sunday. Dr Mohammed Sameer P T (President elect IDA Kerala) was the chief guest. Chief gust delivered a speech regarding the various issues facing by the practicing lady dentist. The speech was very well appreciated by the audience. WDC wing organized various entertainment programs on this function. The highlight was ‘Athapukalam’ and ‘Thiruvathira’ by the lady members. Group music and other various games for kids, family and members were conducted. Before concluding the Onam celebration, Prizes were given by our state president elect to the winners. Meeting was followed by grand ‘onasadhya’. More than 100 members along with their family attended the function.
